Sky Forge Metalworks is seeking a highly skilled Project Manager who also performs on-site installations. This hybrid role is ideal for someone who understands project coordination, fabrication workflow, field measurements, and the hands-on installation of high-quality metal railings.
This position bridges the gap between office planning and field execution—ensuring that every project is accurately managed, well-coordinated, and installed to Sky Forge's craftsmanship standards.
Key Responsibilities1. Project Planning & Coordination
- Review project scopes, drawings, measurements, and fabrication requirements
- Develop timelines for scan, drafting, fabrication, powder-coating, and installation
- Coordinate with the draftsman, fabrication team, foreman, and accounting
- Monitor material availability and schedule sequencing to keep projects on track
- Keep leadership informed of project status, delays, or issues
2. Client Communication & Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact throughout the project lifecycle
- Provide updates at key milestones: scan scheduling, drawing approval, fabrication, coating, and installation
- Professionally address client questions and concerns
- Ensure client expectations and timelines are clearly understood and met
3. Drawing Coordination & Approval
- Work closely with the draftsman to ensure drawings match site conditions and project requirements
- Review drawings before sending them to the client
- Manage the drawing approval process to avoid schedule delays
- Communicate changes or conflicts to shop and installation teams
4. On-Site Installation (Hands-On Role)
- Travel to job sites to install metal railings, posts, panels, and architectural metalwork
- Verify field measurements and ensure proper fit of fabricated components
- Use anchors, adhesives, jigs, and installation tools safely and correctly
- Ensure railings are plumb, level, and installed to Sky Forge standards
- Make minor field modifications when necessary (cutting, grinding, drilling, fitting)
- Protect finished surfaces and maintain a clean work area
5. Field Leadership & Problem Solving
- Assess site conditions and identify obstacles or adjustments needed
- Communicate any discrepancies to drafting, fabrication, or leadership
- Provide guidance to installation helpers when needed
- Represent the company professionally on job sites and with clients
6. Quality Control
- Inspect fabricated components before installation
- Confirm alignment, spacing, finish quality, and adherence to drawings
- Document installation with photos and report issues immediately
- Ensure final product meets Sky Forge's craftsmanship and durability standards
7. Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate project notes, timelines, and communication logs
- Submit material orders or tool requests as needed
- Coordinate progress billing or reporting with accounting
- Track job hours and installation time for scheduling and budgeting
Qualifications
- Proven experience in railing installation, metal fabrication, construction installation, or related field
- Strong understanding of drawings, measurements, and on-site field conditions
- Prior project management or job-site coordination experience preferred
- Ability to operate tools: drills, grinders, levels, saws, impacts, etc.
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Valid driver's license; ability to travel to job sites
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work on ladders or elevated surfaces

Pay: $60, $80,000.00 per year
