Something exciting is happening on Madison's west side. Inside Brennan’s Market, Skip’s After Market is quickly becoming the neighborhood’s favorite gathering spot. As our community hangout grows, we are expanding our front-of-house team and looking for experienced, high-energy Bartenders to join us.
This isn't a rigid, old-school bartending gig where you stay trapped behind a service well all night. Our team operates in a collaborative, fluid environment. While your primary mastery is behind the bar, you’ll also step out to interact with guests, support the floor, and help run food. If you love variety, craft drinks, and genuine community connection, this is your spot.
Key Responsibilities
- Beverage Excellence: Crafting drinks, managing bar service, and sharing your passion for cocktails, beer, wine, and non-alcoholic options.
- Guest Engagement: Welcoming guests, taking orders, handling payments, and hosting the entire space with warm hospitality.
- Floor Support: Stepping out from behind the bar to run food, bus tables, and keep the environment looking polished.
- Event Activation: Assisting with our live music nights, special events, and community programming.
- Teamwork: Helping with opening/closing side-work, service ware upkeep, and maintaining a clean, organized workspace.
What We’re Looking For
- Bar Experience: Proven experience behind a fast-paced or craft bar.
- Credentials: Must hold a valid Wisconsin beverage server license.
- Versatility: Someone who loves bartending but is genuinely happy to step out and support the floor when the team needs it.
- Availability: Reliability for weekend shifts, evenings, and special events is a must.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for a full shift and safely lift up to 40 lbs.
The Details
- Status: Part-time (approx. 20-30 hours/week to start) with growth opportunities. Must be available nights and weekends
- Skip's Operating Hours: Wednesday - Saturday 11:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. & Sundays 11:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
- Compensation: Hourly base rate plus shared pool tips.
