Research Associate- Media Prep
Part time - 20 hours a week (Sun/Mon/Tues)
Contract - 6 months
On-Site - South San Francisco, CA
$40-45/hr
About our Client: Our client is focused on utilizing engineered cells as medicines for patients. The ability to modify genes and use cells as medicines will be one of the most important advances in healthcare over the next several decades. Our client is building differentiated capabilities across the spectrum of cell and gene therapy.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Stem cell culture and differentiation into beta islet cells in bioreactors
- Perform sterile cell-culture media preparation in closed systems using a media mixer.
- Prepare sterile media aliquots for scheduled daily cell-culture feeds.
- Reconstitute growth factors and small molecules according to established protocols.
- Manage inventory of raw materials and completed reagents, and support laboratory upkeep to maintain uninterrupted workflows aligned with project timelines and program goals.
- Closely adhere to batch records and protocols for media and reagent preparation.
- Maintain accurate documentation of completed activities in an Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) and/or written batch records.
- Assure compliance with all relevant laboratory safety and biosafety regulations.

Qualifications
- BA/BS or MS in cell biology, stem cell biology, biotechnology, or a related field.
- 2-3 years of post-graduate academic or industry experience in cell biology, stem cell biology, biotechnology, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience with routine pluripotent stem-cell culture.
- Experience with sterile cell-culture media preparation, filtration, and aliquoting into bottles and bags.
- Experience with closed-system media-preparation equipment, including mixers, tube welders, sealers, pumps, and pressure monitors.
- Ability to maintain sterility and consistency during cell-culture media preparation.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with consistent adherence to protocols.
- Ability to manage time efficiently across multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team setting.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and independent problem-solving skills.
- Availability to rotate weekend work is required.
