About the Role:
Skillforce is seeking experienced Journeyman Electrician for an ongoing project inside a federal building located in Kearneysville, WV. This position requires a deep understanding of both regular electrical installation, conduit, wiring and pulling of fiber optic wire, and Cat 6. The journeyman electrician is responsible for troubleshooting electrical issues, coordinating with other construction professionals, and ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget. This role demands a commitment to quality workmanship and adherence to regulatory requirements to guarantee the reliability and safety of electrical installations.
Pay and Schedule:
Pay: 59.70 per hour
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be a US Citizen and be able to pass a background check
- Valid Journeyman Electrician license
- 5 years of experience on commercial electrical projects
- Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and other relevant electrical standards.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and electrical schematics.
- Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting heavy materials, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in the construction industry with a focus on commercial or industrial electrical systems.
- Certification in specialized areas such as low voltage systems, fire alarm installation, or solar panel wiring.
- Familiarity with the latest electrical tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills to effectively collaborate with diverse project teams.
- Basic computer skills for documentation and use of project management software.
Responsibilities:
- Interpret and work from blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams to install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
- Ensure all electrical work complies with local, state, and national electrical codes and safety regulations.
- Pulling fiber optic wire and Cat 6.
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical systems to identify and resolve potential issues before they become hazards.
- Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and other tradespeople to coordinate electrical work within the overall construction schedule.
- Troubleshoot electrical malfunctions using specialized tools and equipment, and implement effective solutions promptly.
- Install and connect electrical systems to power supplies, including transformers, circuit breakers, and control panels.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on each project.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to apprentice electricians to support their development and ensure quality standards.
