Job Title: Pipefitter – Skid-Mounted Reciprocating Compressor Packages (MIG & Flux Tack Welding)
Location: New Iberia, LA
Shift: 1st 6am-4:30pm Mon-Fri, some Saturday's as needed

Position Summary
The Pipefitter is responsible for fabricating, assembling, and installing piping systems for skid-mounted reciprocating compressor packages. This role requires strong knowledge of P&IDs, isometric drawings, and fabrication blueprints, along with the ability to perform material take-offs and tack weld using MIG and Flux-Core processes. The ideal candidate will have experience in gas compression, oil & gas, or heavy industrial fabrication environments and be able to work efficiently in a production-driven shop setting.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Read, interpret, and work from P&IDs, piping isometrics, spool drawings, and fabrication blueprints.
- Perform accurate material take-offs for piping systems, valves, flanges, fittings, and structural supports.
- Lay out, cut, fit, and assemble piping systems for reciprocating compressor packages and skid-mounted equipment.
- Perform tack welding using MIG (GMAW) and Flux-Core (FCAW) processes.
- Measure, mark, and prepare pipe and fittings using hand tools, power tools, and cutting equipment.
- Ensure proper pipe routing, alignment, elevation, and slope per design and engineering specifications.
- Install pipe supports, brackets, clamps, and hangers.
- Collaborate with welders, fabricators, engineers, and assembly teams to ensure proper fit and function.
- Perform in-process inspections to verify dimensional accuracy and quality.
- Maintain compliance with ASME, AWS, and company quality standards.
- Follow all safety policies and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years of pipefitting experience in an industrial, oil & gas, or compressor packaging environment.
- Proven experience working with skid-mounted systems or compressor packages.
- Strong ability to read and interpret P&IDs, piping isometrics, and fabrication drawings.
- Experience performing material take-offs.
- Ability to tack weld using MIG and Flux-Core processes.
- Experience working with carbon steel piping (stainless steel experience is a plus).
- Strong measuring, layout, and fabrication skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work in confined spaces, and stand, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building reciprocating compressor packages.
- Familiarity with ASME B31.3 piping codes.
- Basic pipe welding experience.
- Forklift or overhead crane certification.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
Work Environment
- Manufacturing and fabrication shop setting.
- Exposure to welding fumes, noise, heavy equipment, and industrial materials.
- PPE required, including safety glasses, gloves, steel-toe boots, and welding helmet when applicable.

Pay: $31.00 - $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 60 per week
