Position Summary
The Shop Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on a wide range of industrial manufacturing equipment, including welding machines, forklifts, overhead cranes, fabrication machinery, and facility systems. This role requires strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, a proactive approach to preventative maintenance, and the ability to minimize equipment downtime in a fast-paced fabrication and manufacturing environment.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance (PM) on shop equipment to ensure reliability and safety.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on:
- Welding machines (MIG, TIG, Flux-Core, Sub-Arc)
- Forklifts and material handling equipment
- Overhead cranes and hoists
- Fabrication machinery (band saws, ironworkers, rollers, positioners, presses, drill presses, etc.)
- Air compressors, dryers, and shop air systems
- Troubleshoot electrical systems including single-phase and three-phase motors, controls, and wiring.
- Maintain PM schedules, logs, and maintenance records.
- Respond to breakdowns and emergency repair requests to minimize production downtime.
- Perform facility maintenance including lighting, plumbing, HVAC coordination, and basic building repairs.
- Inspect equipment for safety compliance and operational integrity.
- Work with vendors and service providers for specialized repairs and parts procurement.
- Maintain spare parts inventory and recommend stocking levels.
- Support equipment installation, relocation, and commissioning projects.
- Follow OSHA safety standards, lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, and company safety policies.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Experience maintaining and repairing welding equipment, forklifts, cranes, and fabrication machinery.
- Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, drives, and electrical controls.
- Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
- Familiarity with preventative maintenance programs and CMMS systems.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
- Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Forklift, aerial lift, and overhead crane maintenance experience.
- Welding and fabrication skills.
- PLC troubleshooting experience.
- HVAC or refrigeration experience.
- Electrical certification or industrial maintenance certification.
Work Environment
- Industrial manufacturing and fabrication shop.
- Exposure to noise, dust, welding fumes, heavy equipment, and electrical systems.
- PPE required including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots.

Pay: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour
