Job Title: Director of Nursing
Location: Topeka, KS
Position Overview: We are seeking a dynamic Director of Nursing (DON) to provide support and assist residents in performing daily living activities. We are looking for a compassionate advocate for residents and their families. As a DON you will be responsible for supporting medical staff in administering care to patients.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide high-quality nursing care in accordance with care plans, physician orders, and facility standards.
Assess, monitor, and document patients’ conditions and communicate changes to the healthcare team.
Collaborate with physicians, CNAs, and other team members to ensure excellent patient outcomes.
Supervise and support CNAs and other nursing staff in daily care activities.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
Participate in quality assurance, infection control, and safety initiatives.
Respond to medical emergencies and follow established protocols.
Uphold professional standards, patient confidentiality, and regulatory compliance.
Comprehensive understanding of CMS, state, and federal regulations governing skilled nursing facilities, including survey preparedness, QAPI programs, and PDPM/RAI requirements.
Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop multidisciplinary teams, fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, and excellence in resident care.
Demonstrated proficiency in budget management, staffing and scheduling oversight, quality assurance, and performance improvement initiatives.
Strong knowledge of resident assessment, care planning, and clinical documentation standards to ensure accuracy and compliance with reimbursement systems.
Qualifications:
Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program with a current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license by the State Board of Nursing
CPR Certified
Supervisory position in Long Term Care: 1-2 years required
Ability to provide compassionate, person-centered care to residents with diverse physical and cognitive needs.
Good collaboration and teamwork skills.
Fast and adaptive problem-solving abilities.
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to foster relationships with residents, families, staff.
