As Volunteer Coordinator, you’ll play a key role in building relationships, strengthening engagement, and ensuring volunteers feel valued, supported, and connected to the Symphony’s work.

Position Overview

The Volunteer Coordinator will support Skagit Symphony by recruiting, training, scheduling, recognizing, and retaining orchestra support volunteers while strengthening volunteer engagement across the organization. The role reports to the Executive Director and works closely with staff, and volunteers, including committee and board members.

Key responsibilities include developing volunteer opportunities, coordinating volunteers for outreach, concerts, fundraisers, donor events, and community activities, and promoting Skagit Symphony’s mission in the community. They will also manage volunteer information through our CRM (Bonterra) and help maintain communications and volunteer policies. Required Qualifications & Skills

The ideal candidate is a people-person, approachable, organized, self-motivated, and able to work both independently and collaboratively. They should have strong communication, administrative, customer service, and computer skills, along with discretion, sound judgment, flexibility, and experience working with volunteers, as individuals or groups.

Minimum qualifications include being 18 years or older, having a high school diploma or GED, a strong customer service background, a demonstrated history of volunteerism, U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency, and a valid, clean Washington State driver’s license. Nonprofit or social services experience and bilingual skills are preferred.

Compensation, Schedule, and Location

Hiring wage will be $20-22/hour. Sick leave will be accrued. The position is 20 hours per week and requires flexibility to work evenings and weekends for concerts, fundraising events, and community presentations. Skagit Symphony has its office and music library in Mount Vernon. Our concert and dress rehearsal venue is McIntyre Hall at Skagit Valley College in Mount Vernon. 

ADA Specifications

This position requires the ability to sit, climb stairs, stand, lift up to 20 lbs., as well as speak, and hear, sometimes for extended periods of time. It does require the ability to use a computer and office equipment traditionally found in office settings. There will be limited local and regional travel.

COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement

Candidate will be required to show proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment.
