Help Tell the Story of Emergency Medical Services in Whatcom County

Do you have a strong desire to serve your community and champion the advancement of emergency medical services? We're looking for a Volunteer Communications Coordinator whose skills can help drive our mission forward.

No medical background is required—just a passion for your neighbors and a talent for communication.

Position Summary

The Volunteer Communications Coordinator helps share the Foundation's impact with the community through digital communications, outreach, and public messaging. Working alongside the Board of Directors, this volunteer ensures our mission, programs, and grant activities are communicated clearly and consistently.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update the Foundation's website.
  • Develop and schedule social media content and campaigns.
  • Produce a quarterly newsletter for supporters and community partners.
  • Draft and distribute other public-facing communications, including announcements and event promotions.
  • Attend monthly Board meetings (in person or virtually) and complete related communications projects.
  • Support community outreach efforts and represent the Foundation at select public events.

Desired Qualifications

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with website content management and social media platforms.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Organized, dependable, and collaborative.
  • Interest in nonprofit organizations, community service, or public health is a plus—but no EMS or medical experience is required.

Time Commitment

  • Approximately 4–8 hours per month, with occasional additional time around events or special campaigns.
  • Attend one Board meeting each month (typically 60–90 minutes).
