Program: Men's House (primary site); Transitional Housing (support coverage)

Location: Mount Vernon, WA

Reports To: Sober Programs Manager

Hours: Full-time, 40 hrs./week. Monday through Friday, with occasional evenings/weekends and rotating on-call weekends.

Salary: $25–$29 per hour, DOE

POSITION SUMMARY

This is a high-accountability, program-management role. The Assistant Manager builds and holds resident duty rosters, keeps written policy in consistent practice on the floor, and makes sure every shift runs the same way, every time. Residents and staff need to be able to count on that consistency — so does the organization. Day to day, the role monitors resident activity to guarantee compliance with program rules and expectations, ensures resident safety, documents events that occur on shift, notifies management of emergency situations, and works collaboratively with case managers toward a successful transition out of the shelter.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Men's House

• Completes orientation for new residents — paperwork, emergency evacuation protocol, and medication documentation.
• Assigns and manages residents to duty positions supporting one another and the broader campus through Community Café programming — building and holding the rotation so coverage is consistent and residents are held accountable to their assignments.
• Meets weekly with assigned residents to review goals and provide resources.
• Completes written incident reports as directed by management, keeping same-day accountability for what happened on shift.
• Performs room checks on a set weekly schedule and addresses areas of concern — the same standard, checked the same way, every time.
• Educates residents on emergency preparedness: documents fire drill date/time, ensures residents know where First Aid/Narcan/AEDs are located and who to contact in an emergency.
• Cleans and inventories rooms after resident check-outs; boxes and records belongings left at the shelter.
• De-escalates conflicts between residents and/or notifies management, responding decisively and staying steady under pressure.
• Obtains and maintains CPR/First Aid certification once employed.

Transitional Housing (support coverage)

• Meets monthly with assigned transitional housing residents to document progress.
• Assists with minor facility maintenance; reports other repairs in writing to management.
• Inspects living spaces to ensure compliance with health and fire safety regulations — applying the same inspection standard consistently across sites.
• Works with management to screen new residents when an opening becomes available.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Two or more years of experience in program management, operations, or scheduling — building rosters or duty rotations and holding participants accountable to them — or equivalent military experience (for example, NCO or squad/platoon leadership, duty NCO, or operations roles). We evaluate candidates on demonstrated ability, not just years in a title.
• High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree or some college coursework also satisfies this requirement. Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Demonstrated consistency and follow-through: applies written policy or procedure the same way, every time.
• Ability to interact and communicate effectively with others, both orally and in writing.
• Maintains clear personal/professional boundaries.
• Able to de-escalate situations that arise with residents.
• Understands the importance of maintaining client confidentiality.
• Able to prepare written reports, with proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
• Able to monitor and direct program activities, including resident duty assignments and rotations.
• Ensures the safety and security of program operations.
• Valid Washington State driver's license and insured vehicle.
• Bilingual preferred but not required.

• The ability to move and lift light objects up to 30 lbs., to include mail, supplies, files, and equipment.
• The ability to operate office equipment that requires continuous or repetitive hand/arm movements.
• The ability to remain in a sitting position for extended periods of time.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

• $25–$29 per hour, dependent on experience.
