What are the responsibilities and job description for the Student Support Interventionist position at Sizer School?
JOB SUMMARY
The Student Support Interventionist assists teachers and instructional staff in the supervision and instruction of Special Education students. The Interventionist supports students by meeting their individual needs in the classroom by assisting with implementing identified accommodations and modifications. The Student Support Interventionist performs a variety of responsibilities and tasks to influence positive changes in student academic achievement and behavior.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (inlcude but are not limited to)
Adapts classroom work under the direction of the teacher for the purpose of providing a method to support and/or reinforce lessons;
Confers with teachers for the purpose of assisting in the evaluation of students' progress and/or implementing students' objectives;
Monitors students in the classroom, hallways, cafeteria, etc. for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment;
Performs record keeping and clerical functions (e.g., scheduling, copying, etc.) for the purpose of supporting teachers and administrative staff as needed;
Participates in staff development as needed;
May serve as a co-facilitator in a daily advisory, building relationships with a small group of students; may serve as a substitute teacher as needed; and
Other duties as assigned.
Regular in-person attendance.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma, college degree preferred.
Strong organizational skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively collaborate.
Experience working with a diverse student population is preferred.
Be able to lift, bend, stand, reach, carry, and walk throughout the building using stairs.
Must be able to pass a Massachusetts state CORI and National Fingerprint Background Check.
