What are the responsibilities and job description for the Temp Port Security Officer position at Sitka, City and Borough of (AK)?
Provides restricted and non-restricted port patrols in accordance with Sitka Facility Security Plan (FSP); Security patrols for restricted and non-restricted areas of the Port; Understands and implements various Maritime Security (MARSEC) Level changes and implements required Port enforcement action; Responds to security threats and breaches, reporting such activities to the appropriate personnel; Conducts random vehicle/passenger screening; Uses handheld radios and cell phones; Performs other duties as assigned or as required by the position
Shifts will vary with Cruise Ship Schedule. Overtime may be required. These positions will not exceed seven (7) months.- Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds, or heavier weights with assistance or the use of proper equipment.
- Employees must possess the ability to walk several miles each day to perform necessary duties
- ENVIRONMENTAL ELEMENTS: Employees work in the field and are exposed to loud noise levels, cold and hot temperatures, inclement weather conditions, hazards, vibration, confined workspace, chemicals, mechanical and/or electrical hazards, and hazardous physical substances and fumes. Employees are required to wear appropriate attire for the work assigned.
