Job Overview
We are looking for a passionate, energetic dog enthusiast to join our hardworking team as a Dog Trainer and Kennel Technician.
In this hybrid role, you will help train dogs using the Sit Means Sit training system while also providing safe, attentive care for dogs staying at our facility. Responsibilities include supporting each dog’s training and behavioral needs, maintaining a clean and comfortable kennel environment, and working closely with team members to provide an excellent experience for both dogs and their owners.
The ideal candidate is passionate about dogs, eager to learn, detail-oriented, and excited to be part of a competitive, fast-paced team. Previous professional dog training experience is not required. We are looking for someone with a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and a genuine desire to grow.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct dog training sessions using the Sit Means Sit training system to reinforce positive habits and address unwanted behaviors.
- Safely handle dogs during training, feeding, exercise, grooming, medication administration, and cleaning routines.
- Provide attentive kennel care, including feeding, cleaning, monitoring behavior and health, and administering medications as directed.
- Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary kennel and training areas.
- Follow daily checklists, schedules, safety procedures, and care instructions accurately and completely.
- Monitor dogs for changes in health, behavior, or comfort and communicate concerns promptly.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with team members and clients.
- Assist with additional facility and animal-care responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous dog training experience is not required but is a plus.
- Previous kennel, animal care, veterinary, grooming, or daycare experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with safe animal-handling techniques is preferred but not required.
- Ability to safely lift and handle dogs, equipment, food, and other items required for daily responsibilities.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and time-management skills.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and complete tasks independently.
- Comfortable working in a physically active, fast-paced environment.
- Dependable, coachable, and eager to learn.
- Passionate about providing excellent care for dogs and exceptional service to their owners.
