Georgetown Visitation, founded in 1799, is an all-girls high school rooted in the Roman Catholic faith and Salesian tradition, committed to educating young women from diverse backgrounds. We are a faith-centered community dedicated to educational excellence, enriched by co-curricular and service programs. Visitation is currently searching for a theology teacher for the 2026 - 2027 school year, teaching 4 sections (80%). The ideal candidate is energetic and is eager to educate and guide young women at this critical time in their lives, as well as to collaborate closely with department colleagues to create an excellent, comprehensive, and cohesive theology program at the school. Additionally, candidates should be able to challenge talented young women to grow in critical thinking and creative problem solving as well as implement teaching methods that serve diverse learning styles.

As educators in the Visitation tradition, our teachers form lives as well as impart knowledge. We’re seeking a candidate who can help students understand how theology can be applied to address real-world challenges, nurturing and inspiring students as they learn to cultivate their skills for the betterment of the world around us. Successful candidates will have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree and a strong academic background in theology plus previous teaching experience in the subject at the secondary level, along with energy, enthusiasm, and the ability to communicate and engage young women to deepen their understanding of theology.  As the school community places great value on Christian Service, retreats, liturgy and community, interest in Campus Ministry, service, and service learning is also valued. 

Candidates must also be willing to work closely with departmental colleagues in a collaborative setting.  Pre-existing certification to teach theology in the Archdiocese of Washington is helpful. If not currently certified (and according to Catholic School Policy), certification will have to be obtained as all theology teachers in Catholic secondary schools are required to be certified through established Archdiocesan guidelines.  As per certification expectations, candidates must be practicing Catholics. 

Salary is equal to the school faculty pay schedule based on degrees and years of teaching experience. The range is $50,000 – $90,000 .
