Grounded in the mission of the Sisters of Mercy—to serve with compassion and respond to the needs of those who are poor, sick, and uneducated—the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas (SMA), Inc. seeks a skilled and mission-driven Project Manager to join the Institute Chief Operating Officer (ICOO) Office.

Job Purpose
The Project Manager will play a key role in managing cross-functional projects and programs affecting the Institute and SMA, Inc. operations and organizational infrastructure. Reporting to the Institute Chief Operating Officer (ICOO), this role bridges multiple departments and stakeholders—both internal and external—to define, execute, and deliver complex initiatives that align with the organization’s strategic goals.
This is a hands-on position responsible for both project management and analytical functions, including data collection and integrity, financial analysis, reporting, task force coordination, and communication. The Project Manager will represent the ICOO Office while modeling the values and philosophy of Institute leadership.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of projects, ensuring delivery on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables under the direction of the ICOO.
- Collect and analyze relevant data, metrics, and financial information to guide decision-making.
- Estimate resource requirements and manage them efficiently.
- Apply structured project management methodologies, including Lean or Six Sigma approaches.
- Develop and finalize related policies and procedures in SMA format.
- Lead cross-functional collaboration, training, and communications across departments.
- Create standardized reports and dashboards that track progress, accountability, and outcomes.
- Support ICOO meetings and presentations, preparing materials and analysis as needed.
- Manage vendor contracts, monitor project budgets, and ensure compliance with organizational standards.
- Utilize change management and process improvement techniques to achieve results.
- Participate in building a positive, mission-aligned team culture.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in project management, information technology, business, healthcare management, or related field.
- At least six years of experience in project management and/or business or functional analysis in a complex organization.
- Proven experience managing administrative projects across broad geographies.
- Strong financial, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience applying process redesign methods (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.).
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with diverse audiences.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, SharePoint, and project management tools.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently with discretion and confidentiality.
- Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills, with a strong service orientation.
Preferred:
- Project Management Certification (PMP), Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt.
- Master’s degree in business, healthcare, or public administration.
- Experience in not-for-profit or faith-based organizations.
- Understanding of Catholic structures and the traditions of the Sisters of Mercy.
