Position Summary

As a Groundsman, you'll work alongside an experienced crew performing residential, commercial, and municipal tree work throughout Northern Illinois. You'll assist with tree removals, pruning, equipment operation, and maintaining safe, efficient job sites. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start a career in the tree care industry. Previous experience is helpful but not required—we're willing to train the right person. Safety is our top priority, and every crew member plays an important role in completing each job efficiently and safely.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include:

• Assist with tree removals and pruning
• Feed and operate the wood chipper
• Load, chip, haul, and process brush and logs
• Operate chainsaws and other equipment
• Assist with rigging and rope operations
• Perform daily equipment inspections
• Maintain a clean and safe job site
• Assist with traffic and work zone safety as needed
• Follow OSHA, ANSI, and company safety procedures

QualificationsPreferred

• Previous tree care, landscaping, forestry, or other outdoor labor experience
• Chainsaw experience
• Mechanical aptitude
• Experience operating loaders, skid steers, or similar equipment
• Class A CDL (strongly preferred but not required)

Required

• Valid driver's license
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening
• Ability to obtain a DOT Medical Card (if applicable)
• Ability to lift 75 pounds repeatedly
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
• Reliable transportation to and from our lot
• Strong work ethic

Schedule & Work Environment

• Monday-Friday
• Typical start time 7:00 AM (may vary based on season, weather, or job location)
• Overtime available during busy seasons and storm response
• This position is physically demanding and requires working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
