Sirius Staffing is seeking a Planner / Scheduler for a contract role in Tampa, FL.
Summary: The Planner / Scheduler plans, coordinates, and tracks construction and maintenance work activities. This role ensures work requests are properly executed, materials are available, and schedules are aligned to support efficient field operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and finalize work requests, including follow-up activities and reconciliation of material issues with ED Stores and Plant Accounting.
- Provide planning, coordination, and logistical support to Electric Delivery (ED) Operations, ensuring work readiness and execution efficiency.
- Support work request administration, scheduling, and coordination for both planned and follow-up activities.
- Monitor material and equipment availability to ensure timely execution of work.
- Assist in optimizing construction and operational resources across Planning & Scheduling functions.
- Review and validate job plans, including sequencing, labor estimates, materials, equipment, and coordination requirements.
- Oversee material issuance to contractors, including conducting audits at contractor storage yards and ensuring compliance with inventory control standards.
- Reconcile contractor-related materials and ensure alignment with work requests and project needs.
- Develop and maintain a weekly four-week look-ahead schedule and participate in planning meetings.
- Coordinate the handoff of construction documentation (work requests, job plans, drawings, permits, etc.) to Operations teams.
- Support Project Managers, Design teams, and contractors with workload planning, job readiness, and resource allocation.
- Coordinate inventory audits, including scheduling, documentation, and resolution of discrepancies.
- Conduct research and analysis to identify material usage trends and recommend process improvements.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Track and report departmental metrics related to performance and operational goals.
- Provide administrative support, including timekeeping, budget tracking, and petty cash coordination.
Qualifications & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Minimum 5 years of experience in utility operations, specifically in underground and overhead distribution construction
- Experience must demonstrate progressively increasing responsibility
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree may substitute for up to 2 years of experience
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (skills assessment required)
- Experience with administrative permitting and distribution operations.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Working knowledge of electric transmission and distribution systems
- Understanding of construction, maintenance, and operational practices within utility environments
- Familiarity with GIS, work management systems (e.g., WORKPro), and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and balance competing workloads
Preferred:
- Working knowledge of CIS systems
