The Opportunity
SiPhox Health is seeking photonics and electronics technicians to join our optical packaging team in Burlington, MA, working on new and novel applications in photonics and electronics. We're hiring 3 technicians to support growing production volume.
This role starts as a 3-month project-based position and may evolve into a full-time role based on performance and business need. You'll work hands-on with precision optical, electronic, and photonics components — assembling, aligning, testing, and inspecting them to exacting specifications under microscope or magnification.

Pay: $22.00 – $40.00 per hour
Employment Type: Contract (3 months), with potential to convert to full-time
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble and package optical components to written specifications.
- Conduct quality control efforts including QC design, testing, and reporting.
- Operate mechanical, electrical, and optical tools for measurement and alignment of photonics components.
- Assemble the SiPhox Health reader, including soldering of electronic components.
- Handle, pick, place, and align small optical, photonic, and electronic components with high accuracy, often under microscope or magnification, requiring strong manual dexterity and fine motor control.
- Manage inventory of photonics and electrical components.
- Perform operational tests on the reader.
What We're Looking For
Must Have
- 1–2 years of experience in a related field.
- Ability to reliably produce product according to written specifications.
- Ability to identify and segregate non-conforming product.
- Manual dexterity, eye-hand coordination, and visual acuity.
- Ability to perform repetitive work while maintaining attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain product traceability and identification.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work closely with others.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues.
- Detail-oriented approach to work.
- Electronic skills, including training in soldering, power meters, and electrical components.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office products.
- Ability to read, write, and understand English.
Nice to Have
- Optical coupling and fiber-attaching training.
- Electronic soldering training.
- Experience handling precision equipment.
- Scripting experience in Python.
- Bachelor's or Associate's degree.
KPIs (Success Measures)
- First-pass yield and defect rate on assembled optical and electronic components.
- Accuracy and completeness of QC testing and reporting.
- Adherence to build specifications and product traceability records.
- Throughput against production schedule targets.
Authority & Decision Rights
- Authority to identify and segregate non-conforming product per written procedures.
- Ability to flag alignment, calibration, or component quality issues for escalation.
- Input on inventory needs for photonics and electrical components.
Key Relationships
- Head of Manufacturing: primary reporting line; aligns on production priorities and schedules.
- Quality: coordinates on QC design, testing, non-conforming product handling, and reporting.
- Process & Integration Teams: partners on build specifications, tooling, and component alignment standards.
