Responsibilities
- Lead and control the flow of guest arrivals, pacing, and seating throughout service
- Operate and manage the reservation and waitlist system with speed, accuracy, and strong situational awareness
- Coordinate seating flow between multiple spaces while maintaining composure under pressure
- Greet arriving guests warmly and establish immediate control of the guest experience from the point of entry
- Prioritize reservations appropriately while balancing walk-in opportunities and overall service pacing
- Clearly and confidently communicate wait times, delays, and seating expectations to guests
- Maintain constant awareness of floor status, reservation timing, table turns, and guest movement
- Recognize VIPs, regulars, industry guests, and company contacts, and execute company hospitality protocols accordingly
- Communicate efficiently and respectfully with hosts, service team, and management to maintain smooth service flow
- Support and direct guest movement between spaces as needed during peak periods
- Maintain organization and presentation of the host stand, entryway, and coat check areas
- Assist in maintaining overall guest-facing cleanliness and readiness throughout service
Required Qualifications
- A positive and enthusiastic attitude, as well as a desire to learn, grow, and develop new skills
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and resolve guest conflict
- Willing to accept guidance in a positive manner and implement the direction in a way that is productive for both you and the team
- Able to work in a standing/walking position for long periods of time
- Ability to demonstrate quick thinking and adaptability in a constantly changing environment
Preferred Qualifications
- 2 years of Host, Lead Host, or Maitre D’ experience in an upscale, high volume establishment
- Ability to navigate the Resy reservation system
- Familiarity with SevenRooms
- Proven experience learning seating charts and escorting guests to their tables
- Ability to run host stand with support of leadership, directing other hosts to seat tables and complete other necessary tasks and responsibilities
- Ability to train new Hosts in all aspects and responsibilities of the role
- A proven track record of dependability and a continuous focus on learning and development
Physical Demands
- The physical demands for this position are seeing, hearing, speaking, reaching, frequently lifting up to 25 pounds, occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds, sitting, standing for 8-10 hours, bending, and moving intermittently during working hours. These physical requirements may be accomplished with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Must be comfortable working outdoors and able to project warmth, presence, and hospitality in all weather conditions.
