Handyman / Building Maintenance Technician
Position Overview
We are seeking a reliable, experienced Handyman / Building Maintenance Technician to support the maintenance and repair needs of our residential and commercial properties throughout NYC.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on self-starter with strong experience in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, painting, and general building maintenance. This position requires someone who can troubleshoot problems, complete repairs efficiently, and interact professionally with tenants and building staff.
Responsibilities
- Handle day-to-day maintenance requests and building repairs.
- Perform basic plumbing repairs, including faucets, toilets, sinks, valves, and clogged drains.
- Perform minor electrical repairs, including outlets, switches, lighting, and fixtures.
- Repair and install doors, locks, hardware, shelving, cabinetry, drywall, and trim.
- Perform painting, patching, caulking, and touch-up work.
- Prepare apartments and offices for new tenants and complete punch-list items.
- Perform basic HVAC and building equipment maintenance, including filter changes.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance.
- Respond to building emergencies such as leaks, power issues, and weather-related events.
- Maintain tools, materials, and work areas in an organized and safe condition.
- Coordinate with licensed plumbers, electricians, and other contractors when required.
Qualifications
- 5 years of building maintenance or handyman experience.
- Strong hands-on skills in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, and painting.
- Ability to troubleshoot and complete repairs independently.
- Experience in residential and commercial buildings.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Reliable, organized, and able to prioritize multiple work orders.
- Commitment to safety and quality workmanship.

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
