About Us

Strong Island Building Services provides commercial facility maintenance, repairs, and construction services for retail stores, restaurants, offices, and other commercial properties. We are seeking a dependable, experienced handyman to join our growing team and support customers throughout Long Island.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance and repairs at commercial properties.
• Complete minor plumbing repairs, including fixing leaks, replacing faucets, repairing toilets, clearing drains, and replacing fixtures.
• Perform basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs, including replacing light fixtures, switches, outlets, ballasts, and bulbs, as permitted by applicable licensing requirements.
• Repair drywall, patch holes, and complete painting and touch-ups.
• Perform carpentry, door and hardware repairs, flooring repairs, and ceiling tile replacement.
• Diagnose maintenance issues and recommend appropriate solutions.
• Communicate professionally with customers, store managers, and dispatchers.
• Document completed work, provide photographs, and submit job updates through mobile applications.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
• Respond to scheduled maintenance requests and occasional emergency service calls.

Qualifications

• Handyman, building maintenance, construction, or facilities maintenance experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of basic plumbing and electrical repairs.
• Experience with drywall, painting, carpentry, doors, hardware, and general repairs.
• Ability to work independently and troubleshoot problems efficiently.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Comfortable using a smartphone to receive work orders, communicate with dispatch, and upload job photos.
• Ability to lift materials, climb ladders, and perform physically demanding work.
• Professional appearance and strong communication skills.
• Commercial maintenance experience is a plus.
