Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Senior Accountant position. You will handle the day-to-day financial operations of the company, ensuring that all transactions are recorded accurately and on time. This is a "hands-on" role that involves high-volume data entry, processing payments, and tracking project costs. You will work closely with our team to keep our finances organized and our projects moving forward.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Oversight: Review the work of the AR/AP and Payroll functions for accuracy.
- Sales Tax Compliance: Ensure accurate calculation, collection, and timely filing of monthly/quarterly sales and use tax returns.
- Job Costing: Assist in the deep-dive of expense tracking for individual roofing jobs to monitor and report on profitability.
- Reconciliations: Perform regular bank and credit card reconciliations and maintain the general ledger.
- Compliance & Admin: Manage lien waivers, insurance certificates, and ensure all financial filing is audit-ready.
- Reporting: Assist in preparing monthly financial statements and identifying trends to improve the bottom line.
- Ad Hoc Assignments: Report directly to our Fractional Controller for specialized financial projects and tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- Experience: Proven experience in bookkeeping or staff-level accounting.
- Software: Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel is required.
- Industry Knowledge: Experience in construction or trades (including knowledge of job costing and lien waivers) is a significant advantage.
- Organization: Strong ability to manage tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain accurate records.
- Communication: Clear, professional communication skills for interacting with vendors and team members.
- Education: Degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred, but relevant work experience will be prioritized.
