Singleton Schreiber, LLP is seeking a detail-oriented and adaptable Project Accountant to join our San Diego team. This role is designed for a professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys taking ownership of assignments from start to finish, and can manage multiple projects while ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness. The Project Accountant will play a key role in supporting settlement accounting, client distributions, and firm-wide initiatives.
SALARY AND BENEFITS:
$70,000 – $85,000 annually

JOB DUTIES:
- Take ownership of assigned accounting projects, ensuring completion on time and with a high degree of accuracy
- Prepare and process client settlement distributions and attorney fee allocations
- Review client distribution agreements, identify discrepancies, and ensure compliance with terms
- Perform reconciliations and audits of payments, trust/IOLTA, and Qualified Settlement Fund (QSF) accounts
- Collaborate with Settlement and Legal teams to streamline workflows and resolve project-specific issues
- Assist with month-end and year-end close tasks as assigned
- Prepare schedules and project-based financial reports for management review
- Respond to internal and external inquiries related to payments, distributions, or project status
- Support the Accounting leadership team with ad hoc projects and process improvement initiatives
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
The ideal candidate is a proactive, solutions-driven accounting professional who can work independently, adapt quickly, and keep projects moving forward while maintaining attention to detail.
- 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment
- Experience with settlement accounting, trust/IOLTA, or QSF accounts strongly preferred
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software (QuickBooks or equivalent)
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and complete multiple assignments under deadlines
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Exceptional communication skills for cross-department collaboration and client interactions
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or progress toward CPA a plus)
- Full-time, Hybrid position (In Office 3 days per week)
