What are the responsibilities and job description for the Golf Simulator Installation Specialist position at Simulator Design Studios by Five Iron Golf?
Company: Simulator Design Studios (SDS) — A Five Iron Golf Company
Location: Greater NYC Area (Flexible, With Travel)
Role Type: Contract or Full-Time
Simulator Design Studios is a fully integrated design and build firm for bespoke golf simulator environments, powered by the team at Five Iron Golf. We design and deliver premium environments for country clubs, private homes, hotels, office buildings, and luxury apartments.
We don't sell simulators out of a box. We build complete, commercial-grade environments informed by the real operational knowledge gained from building and running Five Iron Golf locations. Our team—architects, interior designers, AV experts, golf technology experts, contractors, and operators—has built and operated over 50 locations and 300 bays, logging over 750,000 rounds. We are platform-agnostic, designing custom spaces tailored to our clients' specific needs, whether for social entertainment, serious performance training, or both.
We are seeking our first Golf Simulator Installation Specialist to lead the physical execution of our bespoke environments. As the boots on the ground for SDS, you are responsible for transforming our design plans into reality. You are not just an installer; you are a craftsman who ensures that every environment we build meets the rigorous operational standards of Five Iron Golf.
This role requires a unique blend of hands-on construction skills, technical AV/IT proficiency, and an uncompromising eye for detail. You will install premium turf, mount and calibrate launch monitors, integrate complex AV systems, construct screen enclosures, and ensure the finished space is flawless and ready to perform from day one.
• Site Preparation & Build-Out: Execute the physical installation of simulator environments, including building framing, installing impact screens, laying subflooring, and meticulously installing premium turf.
• Technology & AV Integration: Mount, wire, and calibrate launch monitors, high-speed camera systems, projectors, and audio-visual equipment. Ensure seamless integration of all technology components.
• Craftsmanship & Finishing: Apply an exacting standard to all finishes, from acoustic paneling and lighting to cable management. Ensure the environment feels intentional, integrated, and beautifully designed.
• System Calibration & Testing: Rigorously test and calibrate all hardware and software to ensure commercial-grade performance, accuracy, and reliability before client handover.
• Vendor & Contractor Coordination: Work closely with the SDS design team, external contractors, and vendors on-site to ensure the project aligns perfectly with the bespoke design plan.
• Client Handover & Education: Conduct the final walkthrough with clients, demonstrating system operations and basic troubleshooting, ensuring they are confident in their new environment.
• Performance Support by SDS: Execute ongoing maintenance and service for existing simulator environments. We bring Five Iron operational standards to spaces we inherit, restoring them to full operating standard.
• Experienced Builder & Integrator: You have hands-on experience in construction, carpentry, or specialized AV/IT installations. Previous experience installing golf simulators, home theaters, or complex interactive environments is highly preferred.
• Technically Proficient: You are comfortable working with a variety of technology stacks, including projectors, PCs, launch monitors, and networking equipment. You understand that we are platform-agnostic and recommend what fits the space and use case.
• Detail-Obsessed Craftsman: You believe that proper planning, proper materials, and proper execution are non-negotiable. You take pride in clean cable management, perfectly stretched screens, and seamless turf seams. A simulator environment should perform on day one and still perform five years later.
• Problem Solver: You can think on your feet and adapt to on-site challenges, whether it's an unexpected structural constraint or a complex calibration issue.
• Direct & Confident Communicator: You speak like a knowledgeable peer. You are professional, direct, and confident when speaking with clients, contractors, and our internal design team.
• Willing to Travel: This role requires travel to project sites, mainly in the tri-state area.
Bonus if you have a love for golf or direct experience building simulators!
This is a ground-floor opportunity to shape the physical delivery standard for a rapidly growing business unit backed by the industry leader in indoor golf. You will work with the best technology in the market, build incredible spaces for high-end clients, and be a core part of the team defining the standard for bespoke golf simulator environments.
