Job Title: Floor Tech
Location: Simpson General Hospital | Mendenhall, MS
Schedule: Full-Time | Evening | 2:00pm-11:00pm | Monday - Friday
Reports To: Director of Environmental Services

Position Summary
The Floor Tech is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of floors throughout the hospital, including patient rooms, corridors, clinical spaces, and public areas. This role involves using specialized equipment and chemicals in accordance with hospital safety and sanitation standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Sweep, mop, and maintain hard floor surfaces
- Strip, buff, and wax floors using appropriate machines and products
- Clean or shampoo carpets as needed
- Perform light cleaning of walls, baseboards, and windows
- Maintain cleaning equipment and report repairs as necessary
- Follow all safety procedures and infection control protocols
- Complete assigned tasks in a timely, professional manner
- Dispose of trash and hazardous materials properly
- Support Environmental Services team with additional cleaning as needed
- Attend training and follow all hospital and department policies
- Maintain confidentiality of patients, staff, and operations
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED (Preferred)
- 1 year of floor tech or janitorial experience (Preferred)
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, floor care machines, and safety guidelines
- Ability to lift 25-50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks
- Dependable with a strong work ethic and attention to detail
- Professional, team-oriented, and able to work independently
- Flexible schedule and reliable transportation required
Physical Requirements
This job requires frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting. Floor Techs must have the ability to safely operate machinery, handle supplies, and complete physical tasks in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
