The Department of Psychological Science at Simpson College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position to begin August 2026. The position is open to candidates in any area of psychology, with preference given to applicants specializing in Social, Personality, or Developmental Psychology who can also contribute to teaching statistics and/or introductory psychology.
Primary Responsibilities
- Teach six courses (24 credit hours) across the academic year (fall, spring, and May Term). Courses may include statistics, social, developmental, or personality psychology, with opportunities to teach in the candidate’s area of expertise and core curriculum needs (e.g., introductory psychology, research methods, advanced research).
- Conduct research, with particular emphasis on collaboration with undergraduate students.
- Mentor students to promote success in and out of the classroom, degree completion, and an inclusive learning environment.
- Provide service to the department, the college, and/or the profession.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Psychology (ABD candidates encouraged to apply).
- Evidence of a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching, scholarship, and/or service.
- College or university teaching experience.
- Research experience that engages undergraduate students.
