What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head of Sales position at SimpleSUB Water?
SimpleSUB Water makes water submetering simple. Our cellular-connected, clamp-on submeters install in minutes. No Wi-Fi, no pipe cutting, no plumbers required. We help multi-dwelling property operators stop paying their tenants' water bills, recover 95% of utility costs, and catch leaks before they become expensive problems.
We've built a multi-million dollar per year business across retail strips, apartments, mobile home parks, and HOAs. We're now building the outbound motion to drive our next phase of growth and scale company revenue by an order of magnitude. This role owns that build.
THE ROLE
There is no outbound team yet. You're coming to build it and starting as the sole outbound closer, working one vertical at a time, proving the playbook before expanding. Credibility here is earned by closing, not by title.
You'll work directly with our PMM hire and report to the VP of Revenue. The inbound SMB team currently runs separately. Your mandate is the outbound mid-market motion: build it, close the first deals, document what works, then hire and coach the AEs who scale it.
While this role does not start as a team management position, if you succeed, the path forward is clear: grow in your role as the company scales, with direct reports and ownership of a full sales department you help build.
This is an early-stage environment where structure is something you create, not inherit. If excites you rather than concerns you, this is the right role.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Must Have
- 7 - 12 years in B2B sales with at least 3 years of outbound closing
- Has built or materially improved an outbound sales motion
- Experience selling hardware-enabled software or capital equipment with a software subscription
- Experience selling to commercial real estate operators, property management companies, or multifamily owners
- Experience with a land-and-expand or pilot-to-portfolio model
- Comfortable selling a low-ACV entry deal with a long-term expansion thesis. Make the ROI case for a $5K pilot that leads to a $50K portfolio relationship
- Strong CRM experience for pipeline reporting, deal stage hygiene, and workflow setup. HubSpot experience preferred but not required
- Comfortable in an early-stage environment where structure is something you create, not inherit
Strong plus
- Has sold into retail strip operators, commercial landlords, multifamily property managers, or HOA management companies
- Experience managing high volume of small initial transactions while building toward larger expansions
- Has sold into portfolio operators or multi-property owners and understands the buyer conversation is about the portfolio, not the individual property
- Outbound prospecting skills: LinkedIn, cold email sequences, trade association networking
- Has worked directly with a PMM and iterated on a formal sales playbook

Salary : $160,000 - $240,000
