What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ultrasound Technologist – Non ARDMS position at SimonMed?
Job Duties:
- Perform ultrasound exams including abdominal, OB/GYN, small parts, and limited vascular studies under the guidance of a lead technologist or supervising physician.
- Properly position and prepare patients for ultrasound procedures.
- Operate ultrasound equipment and perform routine calibration checks.
- Document patient history, exam details, and impressions in the imaging system (RIS/PACS)
- Ensure proper labeling, orientation, and quality of sonographic images for physician review.
- Maintain patient safety and confidentiality throughout all procedures.
- Follow all departmental protocols, infection control standards, and privacy regulations (HIPAA)
- Assist with daily room setup, supply restocking, and equipment maintenance.
- Communicate effectively with patients and team members to support efficient workflow.
- Participate in ongoing training and quality assurance activities.
- Support a team-oriented environment and assist in other duties as required.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a formal ultrasound or diagnostic medical sonography program
- 6 months to 1 year of hands-on experience in ultrasound (clinical or externship)
- Registry-eligible with ARDMS or equivalent organization
- Cross-training from radiology (RT(R)) or medical assisting background
- Valid hands-on CPR/BLS certification
- ARDMS or equivalent certification – Not required at time of hire, but strongly encouraged within a defined timeframe.
- State licensing or credentialing (if required by local law)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Basic understanding of sonographic anatomy, physiology, and imaging principles
- Familiarity with standard ultrasound protocols and equipment operation
- Ability to follow instructions, learn new procedures, and seek guidance when needed.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to provide compassionate care.
- Good communication and organizational skills
- Proficiency with or ability to learn RIS, PACS, and EMR systems.
- Commitment to professional growth and certification attainment
- Dependable, punctual, and adaptable in a clinical environment
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all safety regulations.
