Job Description & Skill Requirements
We are seeking an experienced Field Engineer to support plant walkdown activities and field verification tasks. The role involves extensive fieldwork, documentation, and coordination, ensuring accurate alignment between engineering documents and as-built conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform plant and field equipment walkdowns, ensuring accurate verification of P&IDs against as-is site conditions.
- Conduct detailed field equipment inspections and identify discrepancies between engineering documents and site conditions.
- Mark up P&IDs and other engineering documents to reflect changes observed during field verification.
- Capture high-quality photographs of equipment from multiple angles, including connections, using a client-provided inspection application on handheld devices (company-issued or personal).
- Collect and record equipment details such as field identification numbers, nameplate data, and other required technical information.
- Prepare and submit daily field walkdown reports to the town office.
- Operate the company’s 4x4 vehicle on a daily basis to access facilities; this may include off-road driving.
- Ensure assigned vehicles remain in safe, operable condition and report any maintenance needs promptly.
- Submit travel and work-related expenses through the company’s online expense management system.
- Safely lift and handle equipment weighing up to 30 lbs, as required.
Work Conditions & Expectations
- This is a full-time, field-based role requiring approximately 40 hours per week.
- Strict adherence to safety standards and best practices is mandatory at all times.
- Ability to stay overnight away from the base location when project requirements demand.
- Willingness to rent a 4x4 vehicle at the company’s expense if a company vehicle is unavailable.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and follow daily task instructions provided by the Project Coordinator.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Instrumentation or Mechanical preferred) or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5–7 years of relevant field experience in plant walkdowns, equipment verification, or similar roles.
