- Recruit, screen, interview, orientate, train, assign, supervise or dismiss(if necessary) volunteers.
- Understand the individual motivation of each volunteer, their interests and their needs.
- Maintain volunteer records.
- Establish and maintain an excellent network with outside organizations (as well as participating actively), i.e. RSVP, Breakfast Exchange, Mayor’s Council, and NHAVA.
- Under the guidance of the Life Enrichment Director, implement policies and procedures to ensure the success of the volunteer program.
- Work with the Executive Director, Department Heads, Administration and residents to build accurate volunteer service descriptions to clarify assignments and requirements.
- Meet with new residents within a reasonable time frame after admission to familiarize them with the volunteer program.
- Meet periodically with existing residents to inform, educate and recruit new volunteers.
- Explore new volunteer opportunities to help encourage and engage residents to support local non-profit community projects /organizations.
- Plan and organize a volunteer appreciation event(s) once a year celebrating National Volunteer Week for resident volunteers as well as external junior and senior volunteers.
- Provide a monthly educational program for both the Independent Living and Health Care residents.
- Attend annual in-service programs and other pertinent seminars to increase knowledge base.
- Any other duties as requested.
