Duties
- Assist residents or clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting to promote comfort and dignity.
- Monitor patients’ health by taking vital signs, observing changes in condition, and reporting findings accurately to healthcare professionals.
- Support medication administration following prescribed care plans while adhering to HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary needs and assist with feeding when necessary, ensuring safety during meal times.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties, laundry, and organizing personal spaces.
- Use specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident’s
to assist with mobility and prevent injury during transfers. - Document care activities meticulously, including patient observations, progress notes, and adherence to care plans for seamless communication within the team.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care settings is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, dementia care (including Alzheimer’s and memory care), and working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism.
- Certifications such as CPR, First Aid, and HIPAA compliance are required; additional training in hospice care or heavy lifting is a plus.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations including seniors and individuals with disabilities or chronic conditions like dementia or Alzheimer’s disease.
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with healthcare teams, residents’ families, and other caregivers.
- Physical stamina for tasks involving patient monitoring, assisting with mobility, and performing heavy lifting when necessary.
