Full-Time | On-Site | American Fork, UT
About Silver Leaf Environmental Services
Since 2009, Silver Leaf SWPPP has helped land developers, general contractors, and excavators navigate stormwater compliance from permitting through project closeout. Our turnkey services — SWPPP permitting, inspections, BMP installation and maintenance, and dewatering — keep job sites compliant and construction crews moving. Today, that legacy continues as Silver Leaf Environmental Services, and as we continue to grow, we're looking for an HR Manager to help us build the people side of the business with the same rigor we bring to the field.
About the Role
We're hiring an HR Manager to own human resources for Silver Leaf Environmental Services, from recruiting and onboarding to compliance, benefits, and employee relations. Reporting directly to the CEO, you'll work closely with field supervisors and leadership to support a workforce that spans office staff and crews working on active construction sites. This is a hands-on, individual-contributor HR role, ideal for someone who wants full ownership of the function.
What You'll Do
- Employee Lifecycle Management: Oversee the entire employee lifecycle, including full-cycle recruiting, managing job descriptions, onboarding new hires, and conducting off-boarding processes
- Benefits Administration: Manage day-to-day benefits administration, including health plans, 401(k) accounts, and HSA programs
- Payroll Administration: Execute weekly payroll and mileage reimbursement, as well as weekly Davis Bacon certified payroll and monthly reports for projects requiring reports to Gallagher
- HR Systems Management: Administer core HR software (e.g., BambooHR) to ensure smooth, accurate, and prompt HR processes
- Process Documentation: Develop and maintain the employee handbook alongside other operational process documentation to ensure company clarity
- Incident & Claims Coordination: Coordinate injured worker care and handle the processing and reporting of workers' compensation claims, ensuring timely filing and compliance with workplace safety insurance guidelines; submit a monthly report to WCF
- Ensure compliance with federal, Utah and Idaho state, and local employment law, including OSHA and construction-industry labor requirements
- Handle employee relations issues, investigations, and performance management support for supervisors
- Track and report on headcount, turnover, and key HR metrics for leadership
- Support training, certifications, and professional development for field and office staff
What We're Looking For
- 2 years of experience at the HR Generalist or HR Manager level with a Bachelor's degree, or 5 years of HR experience in a related position
- Working knowledge of employment law, including Utah and Idaho wage and hour rules and OSHA basics; construction or field-services industry experience a strong plus
- Experience with HRIS/payroll systems and benefits administration
- Proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets
- Comfortable working with both office staff and field crews, including occasional site visits
- Strong communication skills and sound judgment handling sensitive employee matters
- PHR, SHRM-CP, or equivalent certification preferred but not required
