What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Machinist position at Silgan Containers Manufacturing Corporation?
Starting Wage: $40.16 per hour
What You'll Do:As a Maintenance Machinist, you will play a key role in supporting plant operations by ensuring tools, dies, machines, and mechanical components are operating at peak performance. Your responsibilities will include:- Set up and operate all machine shop equipment
- Repair and maintain tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, models, instruments, and mechanical parts
- Assist with size changeovers to support production requirements
- Perform complete machine overhauls as needed
- Set dies in machines for production, testing, experimentation, demonstrations, and training
- Immediately report accidents, equipment damage, shortages, or any issues that may interrupt operations
- Read and interpret blueprints with accuracy
- Operate mills, lathes, grinders, and power tools safely and skillfully
- Troubleshoot mechanical components of automated production lines
- Train and develop working knowledge of mechanical systems and components
- Experience working with close tolerances
- Proficiency in setting up and operating all standard machine shop equipment
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, drawings, handbooks, equipment manuals, specifications, and related documentation
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Industrial or manufacturing experience preferred
- Journeymanlevel machinist competency
- Completion of a 4year machinist apprenticeship or equivalent experience
