What are the responsibilities and job description for the Machine Operator/Packager position at Silco Incorporated?

The Machine Operator/Packager is responsible for the production and packaging of high-quality silicones, hybrid sealants and adhesives.
- Starts, stops, operates, disassembles, cleans and reassembles the filling line.
- Performs color and/or product changes on the filling line.
- Follows and executes production by utilizing the information provided on the schedule, in work instructions and by following established processes and procedures.
- Oversees quality checks per production schedule and/or work instructions.
- Prepares and prints labels for each job listed on the production schedule.
- Uses ERP scan gun to issue material, de-issue inventory and input production.
- Ensure that product is assembled properly and packaged according to customer specifications/work instructions (this includes labeling, packing containers, ink jet messages, pallets and stacking configurations).
- Operates the ink jet printer to print product specific messages and codes onto packaged products.
- Completes paperwork to properly record information such as lot #’s, quantities produced and production dates.
- Operates packaging machine and can assess and resolve minor issues associated with the filling line.
- Changes drums of material in and out of the drum press, loads hoppers, empties packaging containers, boxes filled packaging containers, tapes boxes, and loads boxes onto pallets.
- Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
Your Skills:
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
- Reading comprehension for batch sheets and standard operating procedures.
- Strong mechanical skills and understanding.
- Willingness to learn and take direction.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work efficiently with others.
- Highly motivated to learn and grow with the company.
- Frequently lifts and moves up to 20 lbs. on a regular basis; occasionally lifts and moves up to 65 lbs. independently and with the assistance of a co-worker or equipment.
MINIMUM EDUCATION/DEGREE REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience is preferred.
- Reliable and consistent attendance is an essential function of this position.
