Essential Functions
- Assists with instruction and activities as assigned by the teacher. Assists with work activities.
- Prepares, creates, and/or adapts instructional materials as directed by the teacher. Assists students with assignments.
- Assists the teacher with implementation of instructional strategies in the classroom that respect individual differences, foster student achievement, and maintain supportive and
- Performs support tasks to enhance the effectiveness of the learning environment.
- Demonstrates continued professional growth to meet changes in the position.
- Performs related duties, as assigned.
- Supervises student in cafeteria or at recess or as assigned by supervising teacher/administrator.
- Strictly adheres to confidentiality requirements regarding all matters pertaining to students, parents, parent communications, and/or classroom activities.
- Carries out work responsibilities effectively under pressure of deadlines, difficult situations, interruptions, and new or emergency situations. Performs routine instructional and non-instructional support tasks, including clerical duties and use of adaptive/assistive equipment or technology.
- May perform duties associated with the car line and other duties as assigned.
- Education level Substitute teaching certificate is required and either a minimum of sixty (60) college credit hours, or paraprofessional exam

- Ability to follow the instruction of the teacher(s) to whom the assistant is assigned.
- Other requirements Must successfully pass a background check that is satisfactory to the Board of Education. Excellent organizational skills, oral and written skills, time management, and telephone skills. Computer knowledge and assistive technology.
