Position Purpose

**

Detroit City FC is seeking a Social Media Coordinator to oversee the club’s daily publishing schedule, real-time posting, and performance tracking across all social and digital platforms. This role is focused on execution, data, and revenue impact—ensuring our digital channels consistently support ticket sales, merchandise, partnerships, and key club initiatives. The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced, live-event environments and is excited to help turn digital engagement into measurable business results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Publishing and Real-Time Execution

**

  • Own and manage the club’s social media content calendar across platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X/Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, BlueSky, and emerging channels.
  • Schedule and publish content in alignment with match schedules, ticketing priorities, merchandise launches, and partnership deliverables.
  • Provide real-time coverage for home matches, away matches, select team trainings, events, and community activations, including live updates, scorelines, and key moments.
  • Coordinate with creator-focused staff to receive and deploy assets (graphics, video, photography) according to the planned publishing schedule.
  • Help maintain accurate, timely information across team-owned digital platforms (social channels, website, app) in partnership with Communications and Marketing.

Revenue-Focused Marketing Support

**

  • Execute social campaigns that support ticket sales, memberships, merchandise promotions, and special offers, using platform tools and best practices to drive clicks and conversions.
  • Partner with Ticketing and Merchandise teams to ensure priority matches, key deadlines, and featured products are consistently and clearly messaged.
  • Support paid social initiatives by trafficking assets, setting up posts and boosted content to spec, and monitoring performance with Marketing leadership.
  • Collaborate with Partnership staff to fulfill digital sponsor deliverables, post partner content series, and support recaps with impression and engagement data.

Data, Analytics, and Reporting

**

  • Track and analyze social media performance metrics, including reach, engagement, follower growth, click-through, and other key indicators.
  • Build and maintain recurring reports and simple dashboards that visualize performance over time and connect social activity to ticketing, merchandise, and partnership objectives.
  • Identify trends and optimization opportunities, and present insights and recommendations to Communications and Marketing leadership.
  • Maintain organized documentation of campaigns, posts, and key metrics to support end-of-season reviews and sponsor recaps.

Fan Engagement and Match Day Duties

**

  • Monitor comments, DMs, and mentions across platforms and respond or route inquiries in line with club guidelines, especially on match days.
  • Attend all home matches to provide full live coverage via social channels; travel to select away matches as needed.
  • Coordinate with broadcast, game operations, and communications staff to ensure consistent messaging and cross-promotion of streams, highlights, and sponsor content.
  • Support post-match digital tasks such as posting final scores, highlights, quotes, and links provided by Communications and creator teams.

Qualifications

  • 2–3 years of experience in social media coordination, digital marketing, or a related role; sports or live events experience preferred.
  • Strong familiarity with major social platforms, publishing tools, and analytics dashboards (native or third-party).
  • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills with the ability to uphold a consistent, on-brand voice.
  • Experience compiling metrics into clear reports or dashboards for internal stakeholders and/or partners.
  • Comfort collaborating with creative teammates and working with digital assets (graphics, video, photo) and platform specs.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and match days, and to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for soccer, sports culture, and the Detroit community.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.

This position does not require a valid driver’s license.

Reporting Structure

**

The Soccer Information Coordinator reports to the Communications Manager and works in close collaboration with the communications, marketing, operations, and broadcast teams.

This position does not have direct supervisory responsibility but may coordinate tasks with interns, freelancers, and matchday media staff as assigned.

Work Environment

This job operates in an office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to exchange ideas and information. This is a somewhat sedentary role; however, some filing is required. The position requires the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
