Role: Mainframe Engineer

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Engineer to design, develop, maintain, and support enterprise mainframe applications. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, and VSAM, along with excellent troubleshooting and production support skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, enhance, and maintain mainframe applications.
- Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Develop and maintain COBOL programs, JCL jobs, DB2 queries, and CICS applications.
- Perform unit, integration, system, and regression testing.
- Troubleshoot application, batch, and production issues and perform root-cause analysis.
- Monitor job execution, resolve JCL errors, and support production deployments.
- Work with VSAM files, DB2 databases, and mainframe utilities.
- Participate in code reviews, technical documentation, and SDLC activities.
- Collaborate with business analysts, QA, infrastructure, and application teams.
- Support performance tuning, enhancements, and ongoing system maintenance.
Required Skills
- 5 years of Mainframe development/engineering experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, and VSAM.
- Experience with IBM z/OS environments.
- Strong SQL and debugging/troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with production support and batch processing.
- Good understanding of SDLC, testing, and deployment processes.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
