Signature Graphics is a locally-owned, full-service heatset and coldset commercial printer with direct mail advertising and graphic design businesses Since opening in 1984, Signature Graphics has become one of the largest printers in the Pacific Northwest.
We are currently looking for an experienced Night Lead/Press Operator to operate our Cold- and Heat-set Web Offset Printing presses at our Spokane (Airway Heights) plant.
Position Overview
The Night Lead/Press Operator leads and actively supports our commercial print pressroom. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for managing production, operating alongside the team when needed, troubleshooting equipment, and maintaining workflow across changing production schedules. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with extensive pressroom experience, mechanical ability, and flexibility to work fluctuating day and night hours based on production demands.
Key Responsibilities
• Supervise and actively participate in daily pressroom operations, providing both leadership and hands-on support.
• Oversee production schedules, staffing, workflow, and job execution to meet quality and delivery expectations.
• Operate, adjust, troubleshoot, and assist on press equipment as needed.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical issues and perform equipment maintenance to minimize downtime.
• Lead by example on the production floor, supporting operators and stepping in where needed to keep production moving.
• Maintain flexibility to work days, nights, weekends, and extended hours as production demands fluctuate.
• Coordinate preventative maintenance and support equipment reliability initiatives.
• Monitor quality standards, productivity, waste reduction, and press performance.
• Supervise, train, mentor, and develop pressroom personnel.
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures and company policies.
• Respond to urgent production or equipment issues and help drive solutions in real time.
Qualifications
• Extensive commercial printing experience with demonstrated pressroom leadership.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
• Proven experience as a hands-on leader willing to work alongside the team.
• Strong knowledge of printing processes, press maintenance, quality standards, and production scheduling.
• Ability to manage changing priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Flexible availability with willingness to work fluctuating schedules, including day and night shifts.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Requirements
• Flexible hours are a must; schedule may fluctuate based on production needs.
• Must be willing to work a combination of production Lead and hands-on production support.
• Ability to be available for off-shift support or emergency equipment issues as needed.
• Physical ability to work in a manufacturing environment around press equipment.
• Must regularly lift and/or move 25 to 50 pounds
• Successful completion of a pre-employment background check
• Basic proficiency in English
