What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Control Specialist position at Signarama Troy | Metro Detroit?
About Us
We operate one of the largest sign manufacturing facilities in the country, building everything from storefront signs for Metro Detroit businesses to sign programs for national brands with locations coast to coast. Our reputation rests on one thing: getting it right the first time.
The Role
You are the last line of defense between our production floor and our clients. Every job that ships or installs crosses your bench first, and you have the authority to stop any job that doesn't meet spec. You'll inspect work from fabrication, vinyl and print, vehicle graphics, engraving, and pre-installation staging. Our standard is zero defects reaching the client, and you own that standard.
What You'll Do
- Perform final inspection on every completed job before it releases to shipping or installation
- Verify dimensions, color accuracy, finish quality, hardware, and ADA compliance against job specs
- Hold any job that fails inspection and escalate it immediately to production leadership
- Document every result (pass, fail, rework) and photograph all flagged jobs
- Maintain QC checklists for every product type and apply them consistently across all departments
- Track rework trends by department and deliver a weekly report that drives real process improvement
- Maintain inspection tools, calibration logs, and Pantone color references
What You Bring
- 2 years of quality control or inspection experience in manufacturing or fabrication
- Confidence reading job specs and shop drawings
- Skill with precision measuring tools like calipers and gauges
- A sharp eye for color, finish, and detail
- The backbone to hold the line on quality when production is pushing to ship
- Strong documentation habits and clear communication
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to [50] lbs
Nice to Have
- Sign industry experience
- ADA signage compliance knowledge
- Pantone color matching experience
- Experience with production tracking or maintenance software
Where This Role Goes
