What are the responsibilities and job description for the Commercial Vehicle Graphics Installer position at Signarama Danbury?
Commercial Vehicle Graphics Installer
Pay: $20–$30 per hour, based on experience
Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday, 8:00 am – 4:00 pm
Type: In-shop and on-site installs
Do you take pride in a wrap with no bubbles, clean seams, and tucked edges? We're looking for a skilled installer to join our team and turn printed vinyl into rolling billboards for local businesses. Most of your week will be spent wrapping and lettering commercial vehicles — work vans, pickups, box trucks, trailers, and full fleets — with storefront graphics and sign installs mixed in.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Vehicle graphics (the core of the job)
- Install full wraps, partial wraps, spot graphics, lettering, and DOT/USDOT numbers on cars, vans, box trucks, and trailers.
- Inspect each vehicle on arrival and photograph any existing paint damage, rust, or dents before work begins.
- Prep surfaces properly: wash, degrease, and alcohol-wipe; remove and reinstall handles, badges, mirrors, and trim as needed.
- Remove old graphics and adhesive residue with heat and the right tools, without damaging the paint
- Check every printed panel against the approved proof (spelling, colors, sizing, and panel layout) before it goes on the vehicle.
- Apply vinyl to manufacturer specifications (3M, Avery Dennison, and others), including relief cuts, inlays, overlapping seams, edge tucks, and post-heating.
- Use knifeless tape and blade techniques to trim cleanly without cutting into paint.
- Install fleet graphics consistently, so the 10th van matches the 1st
Other installs and shop work.
- Install window perf, storefront window graphics, and wall graphics.
- Mask, weed, and prep vinyl for application.
- Help with sign installations (panels, dimensional letters, and site prep) as needed.
- Load and transport graphics, tools, and materials safely to job sites, and clean up after every install
- Keep the install bay organized and tools in good working order
- Represent the company professionally with customers at their shops, yards, and job sites.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Required
- Hands-on experience installing vehicle graphics or wraps. Strong vinyl applicators who are ready to step up to wraps will be considered.
- Solid understanding of vinyl types (cast vs. calendered, wrap films, perf) and how they behave on curves, recesses, and rivets
- Confident with a heat gun, squeegee, knifeless tape, X-Acto and utility knives, tape measure, and leve
- A sharp eye for detail: straight lines, matched seams, and a finished product you'd put your name on.
- Valid driver's license and a driving record that allows you to drive company vehicles.
- Physically able to stand, kneel, bend, climb ladders, and lift materials throughout the day, including work at heights.
- Comfortable working in the shop and outdoors in varying weather.
Nice to have
- 3M Certified or Preferred Graphics Installer, or Avery Dennison certification.
- Experience with color-change wraps, chrome-delete, or paint protection film.
- Sign installation experience (channel letters, panels, electrical signs).
- OSHA 10
