Position Summary
The Director of Nursing serves as the clinical leader of the agency, overseeing all nursing services, clinical staff, quality initiatives, and regulatory compliance efforts. Working closely with the Administrator and team, the DON creates a culture of accountability, compassion, and excellence while ensuring outstanding patient outcomes and operational success.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who can balance strategy with service, inspire teams through mentorship, and maintain the highest standards of clinical care.
What You'll Do
Inspire and Lead a High-Performing Clinical Team
- Build, mentor, and develop a team of nurses and aides who are passionate about patient care.
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and accountable workplace culture.
- Recruit, onboard, train, and retain top clinical talent.
- Provide coaching and professional development opportunities that help team members grow and succeed.
Champion Exceptional Patient Care
- Ensure the delivery of safe, compassionate, and evidence-based care.
- Oversee patient care planning and clinical services across the agency.
- Support clinicians in managing complex patient needs and clinical challenges.
- Promote a patient-first culture focused on dignity, independence, and quality of life.
Drive Quality and Clinical Excellence
- Lead Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives.
- Monitor clinical outcomes, patient satisfaction, and operational performance metrics.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and implement best practices.
- Maintain a strong focus on infection prevention, patient safety, and risk management.
Ensure Regulatory Success
- Serve as the agency's clinical expert on Medicare, state, and federal home health regulations.
- Maintain survey readiness and ensure compliance with all applicable standards.
- Develop and enhance clinical policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Oversee clinical documentation to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
Partner in Agency Growth
- Collaborate with leadership to achieve strategic, operational, and financial goals.
- Build strong relationships with physicians, hospitals, referral partners, and community organizations.
- Support agency growth through clinical expertise and exceptional service delivery.
- Help position the organization as a trusted leader in home healthcare.
What Makes You a Great Fit
Required Qualifications
- Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
- Previous experience as a Director of Nursing or Clinical Manager.
- Proven success leading teams through growth and change.
- QAPI and survey readiness experience.
- Minimum of three years of leadership experience in nursing management.
- Experience in home health, hospice, acute care, or community-based healthcare.
- Strong knowledge of Medicare regulations, OASIS, and home health compliance requirements.
