Compensation: $20/hour guaranteed against production commissions, with weekly pay

SignTech is hiring a mechanically skilled service technician who enjoys solving problems, speaking with business owners, and earning more through results.

You will identify commercial sign and lighting outages, explain repair options to customers, prepare estimates, and complete approved repairs whenever safe access and available parts allow. You will also offer sign and awning cleaning services.

This position combines hands-on service with field sales. You will manage opportunities from the initial outage photo through customer approval, completed work, invoicing, and payment.

What You Will Do

• Conduct approximately one nighttime survey route each week within an assigned service area.
• Photograph sign and lighting outages and record business locations and service opportunities.
• Visit businesses during daytime hours, show the outage photos, and speak with owners or authorized managers.
• Diagnose accessible problems and explain repair options clearly.
• Identify opportunities for sign cleaning, awning cleaning, and related maintenance.
• Prepare estimates using company-approved pricing, an AI-assisted estimating tool, and QuickBooks.
• Obtain written customer approval before starting work.
• Complete authorized repairs and cleaning from ground level or safely accessible ladder positions.
• Estimate and sell larger jobs requiring SignTech’s bucket truck or service crew.
• Document completed work with photos and show customers the results.
• Convert estimates into invoices and collect payment at completion through company-approved methods, unless other terms have been authorized.
• Maintain accurate job records, inventory, and equipment.

Compensation

You earn the greater of:

• $20 per hour for hours worked, or
• Your earned production commissions.

The hourly guarantee is included in compensation and is not added on top of commissions. Any difference between the guarantee and earned commissions does not become employee debt.

Production commission rates are:

• 30% on eligible jobs you identify, sell, and complete.
• 20% on eligible company-provided opportunities you sell and complete.
• 10% on eligible jobs you identify and sell that another SignTech crew completes.

Commissions are calculated on collected revenue after direct materials and outside job costs, excluding sales tax and refunds. Full eligibility and calculation details will be provided in a written compensation plan.

Pay is issued weekly. All work hours are recorded, and applicable overtime and required payroll adjustments are paid. Earnings above the guarantee depend on production and eligible customer collections.

Vehicle, Tools, and Company Support

Initially, you will use your own reliable vehicle for local service routes and customer visits. SignTech will reimburse approved business mileage under its written policy.

SignTech will provide required service tools, safety equipment, a ladder, and an inventory of common power supplies, LED components, and standard lamps. Company power tools, cleaning equipment, and power washers will be provided as needed.

Initial work will focus on accessible repairs and cleaning. Elevated or specialized jobs will be supported by SignTech’s service crew.

Assignment of a company service or bucket truck may be considered after demonstrated profitable production, safe work practices, and reliability. This is not guaranteed.

Qualifications

• Relevant experience in sign service, commercial lighting, electrical maintenance, appliance repair, HVAC service, or a comparable mechanical trade.
• Ability to troubleshoot problems and recognize when additional expertise or equipment is needed.
• Confidence approaching business owners and explaining service options professionally.
• Ability to perform ladder work safely within company procedures.
• Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and appropriate vehicle insurance.
• Comfort using a smartphone, mobile estimating tools, and invoicing software.
• Strong organization, accurate documentation, and dependable customer follow-through.
• Availability for daytime customer visits and approximately one nighttime survey route per week.

Sign and lighting repair experience is strongly preferred. Electrical work will be limited to authorized tasks within the employee’s qualifications and company procedures.
