About The Position
SIFF’s Cinema Projectionist role is responsible for operating motion picture projection equipment, aligning with industry standards and ensuring an excellent cinematic experience for SIFF patrons.

Compensation: Hourly $23-$25.50/hr depending on theater
Reports to: Technical Manager
Primary Supervisory Responsibilities: n/a
Primary Roles and Responsibilities
- Operates digital cinema, 35mm projectors and related exhibition peripherals, including DCP servers, Blu-rays, and other alternate sources.
- Inspects DCPs, 35mm film, Blu-Ray Discs, and Digital files for quality playback.
- Alerts Technical Manager of any issues that may affect proper playback of content.
- Confirms that all content needed for cinema events/screenings is in-house.
- Builds playlists for cinema events/screenings that include correct sponsor ads, trailers and features.
- Sets up, breaks down, and monitors auditorium equipment, such as microphones, PAs, and mixers.
- Routinely checks picture, sound and overall presentation quality of each screening.
- Maintains strong and regular communication with Technical Manager, Senior Projectionist, and Venue Managers.
- Performs regular upkeep in projection area(s) to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 3 years of digital cinema projection experience
- Experience operating 35mm film projectors
- Must have availability to work a flexible schedule consisting of nights, weekends, and holidays
- Excellent communication skills
- Able to work both independently and as a team
- Ability to stay calm in stressful situations
- Demonstrated commitment to racial equity
Desired
- Experience operating 70mm film projectors
- Familiarity with Google-Suite
- Previous film festival experience
- Experience working events that require audio/visual components

- This is a full-time, hourly position, rate is set and dependent upon location
- This is an FLSA overtime non exempt position (Overtime rates are 1.5x hourly rate)

Work Environment: This position will work onsite at all three of our theaters: SIFF Uptown, SIFF Egyptian & SIFF Film Center.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, stand, walk and physically assist patrons when needed. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
