Sierra Foothills Academy is a K-12 school serving students with special needs. We provide individualized education, behavioral support, and therapeutic services in a structured, nurturing environment. Our team is dedicated to helping students achieve academic, social, and emotional success. Position Overview: As a Special Education Teacher at Sierra Foothills Academy, you will work closely with students aged TK–22 who require extensive support due to moderate to severe disabilities. You will design and implement individualized education programs (IEPs), collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and create a positive, structured classroom environment that promotes growth and independence. This role requires someone who can think creatively, adapt quickly, and maintain a compassionate approach while addressing the unique needs of each student. Your primary goal will be to help students achieve academic, social, communication, and life skills milestones tailored to their abilities. Responsibilities: -Develop and execute differentiated lesson plans aligned with IEP goals and state standards. -Provide direct instruction in academics, functional life skills, communication, and social-emotional development. -Conduct assessments and progress monitoring to track student growth and adjust instructional strategies as needed. -Collaborate with therapists, paraprofessionals, parents/guardians, and other stakeholders to ensure comprehensive support for students. -Maintain accurate records of attendance, behavior data, IEP documentation, and other required paperwork. -Foster a safe, respectful, and engaging classroom environment using evidence-based practices such as Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), or similar frameworks. -Adapt materials and utilize assistive technology to meet the diverse needs of students. -Participate in professional development opportunities

Qualifications: Valid California Education Specialist Credential: Extensive Support Needs (or eligible for Intern credential) Experience working with students with extensive support needs, including autism spectrum disorders, intellectual disabilities, and/or multiple disabilities. Strong understanding of IEP processes, compliance requirements, and best practices in special education. Proficiency in implementing behavior management strategies and crisis intervention techniques. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to build rapport with students, families, and colleagues. Knowledge of assistive technologies and adaptive equipment is a plus. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
