What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chile Roaster position at Sichler Farms?
We are seeking dedicated chile roasters to join our team for the upcoming chile season. As a chile roaster, you will be responsible for roasting chile to order, managing produce deliveries, and supporting the day-to-day operations of our chile stand. This is a fast-paced and busy environment, ideal for energetic individuals. Morning and afternoon shifts are available Thursday through Sunday, from early August mid-October.
Responsibilities
· Set up the chile stand each morning and break it down at the end of the day.
· Unload large quantities of produce from local farmers, often during regular business hours.
· Balance roasting chile for customer orders with managing produce deliveries as they arrive.
· Unload, stack, and roast bags of chile to specification.
· Carry heavy items to customers’ vehicles as needed.
· Inspect and clean chile pods, onions, garlic, and other produce; remove and discard any old or spoiled items.
· Assist in packaging chile in smaller quantities for customer purchases.
· Assist in restocking shelves with fresh products.
· Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace at all times.
Qualifications
· Must be able to follow safety precautions and procedures.
· Ability to switch between tasks quickly and efficiently to meet seasonal demand.
· Strong time management skills to keep pace in a busy environment.
· Capability to stand for extended periods during shifts.
· Physical ability to lift and carry up to 45 lbs. comfortably for entire shift.
· Willingness to work outdoors for the entirety of each shift, regardless of weather conditions.
