About the Role
Our direct client, Delta Dental, is seeking a highly skilled Cybersecurity Engineer to support the planning, development, and implementation of enterprise-level information security solutions. This role will design and enhance security architectures, support business operations, and mitigate security risks across the organization. The right consultant must have strong technical depth, hands-on experience, and the ability to serve as a security subject matter expert in a complex environment.

- Strong understanding of:
- Network security protocols, best practices, perimeter security tools
- IAM concepts, including:
- SAML
- OAUTH/OIDC
- Active Directory

- Endpoint management
- Mobile Device Management (MDM)
- Data protection technologies:
- Cryptography
- Tokenization

- Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement enterprise information security solutions, including:
- Authentication & authorization
- Public Key Infrastructure (PKI)
- Data Loss Prevention (DLP)
- Security Event & Information Management (SIEM)
- Maintain a comprehensive view of IT assets, attack surfaces, data flows, and associated security threats.
- Research, design, and develop new enterprise security technologies, architectures, and tools.
- Act as a subject matter expert for application development, networks, databases, and operating systems.
- Support project teams in aligning with enterprise security policies, regulations, and best practices.
- Analyze the business impact of emerging security threats and contribute to enterprise risk assessments.
- Collaborate with architects and security domain experts to ensure robust protection mechanisms.
- Recommend and evaluate mitigation strategies to address cybersecurity risks.
- Serve as a security advisor across platform, application, storage, network, virtualization, cloud, and mobile environments.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Strong hands-on security engineering background
- Experience in healthcare IT security
- Ability to work onsite 4 days/week in San Francisco
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Proven experience implementing security controls in enterprise environments
