Summary Of Position
The Product Manager for Specialty Tape is responsible for developing and executing the product strategy for a portfolio of specialty adhesive tape solutions. This role acts as the central hub between customers, sales, R&D, operations, and marketing to drive profitable growth, guide new product development, and manage the full product lifecycle. The product manager must have an expert understanding of the products’ buying audiences and their needs and often acts as a subject matter expert who transfers knowledge about markets, buyers and product across marketing and sales functions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Product Lifecycle Management
- Manage product lifecycle from concept to commercialization through end-of-life.
- Monitor product performance (sales, margin, quality, cost) and take corrective actions when needed.
- Lead SKU rationalization efforts and ensure the portfolio stays competitive and profitable.
- Partner with research and development (R&D) to define product requirements and support development and qualification testing.
- Work with operations and supply chain to ensure component availability, optimal production processes, and inventory health.
- Collaborate with marketing and sales to develop value propositions, product messaging, and sales enablement tools.
- Serve as the subject-matter expert for specialty tapes, providing product training and technical support to sales teams and key accounts.
- Conduct customer visits and gather voice-of-customer (VOC) insights to guide innovation and improvement.
- Track competitor offerings, pricing, and market dynamics to maintain differentiated positioning.
- Accountable for pricing strategy and margin performance for the product line in alignment with Sales Leadership.
- Develop annual revenue forecasts and support budgeting activities.
- Evaluate ROI of major initiatives and track key performance metrics.
- Manage the product management function to rationalize products, identify gaps in portfolio of standard products and manage the stage gate process to develop the products in conjunction with the Innovation function.
- Support strategic direction of digital landscape, including website properties, to build credibility and confidence.
- Ensure existing TDS’s are current and accurate (and reflect proper [substantiated] claims).
- Create marketing collateral to support the target market segment – brochures, catalogs, sales sheets, case studies, photography, videos, etc.
- Develop messaging to support the launch into the new segment (including packaging if needed).
- Coordinate sample availability and create a more defined process for Connecticut sample requests.
- Provide sales and customer support (including training, customer visits, presentations, etc.).
- Lead or actively participate in new product development (NPD) projects needed to support the new segment.
- Coordinate competitive landscape analysis and comparison as needed.
- Conduct market research as needed (including VOC work when applicable and validating market size/potential); Also need to understand any cross-business segment opportunities within Shurtape and ensure appropriate communication.
- Support internal systems (GIMS and ESKO) as needed.
- Identify and support any relevant trade shows.
