POSITION: Accounts Payable/Receivable Clerk

Shrewsbury Public Schools is currently accepting applications for an Accounts Payable/Receivable Clerk.
The Accounts Payable/Receivable Clerk will be responsible for managing financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in processing invoices, payments, and reimbursements. This role plays a crucial part in maintaining the financial health and integrity of our district’s operations.

This is a full year, full-time position working 37.5 hours per week and is benefits-eligible.
The hourly rate is $26.64-$33.29 per hour based on experience.

The successful finalist will report to the Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Operations.
Duties and responsibilities include:
· Processes invoices and vendor payments in a timely manner, verifying accuracy, completeness of the order, approvals, coding, and closure of Purchase Order when completed.
· Works collaboratively with schools and departments to verify appropriateness and compliance with invoices and/or Purchase Orders in relation to School Department, Town and State purchasing standards and regulations.
· Prepares and performs check runs and payments.
· Reconciles vendor payments, transactions, and statements, resolving discrepancies as needed.
· Responds to inquiries from vendors, staff, and the public regarding Accounts Payable/Receivable matters.
· Prepares Accounts Payable warrant for signatures.
· Obtains W9s and assigns new vendor numbers as required.
· Maintains files for pending invoices, paid invoices, account information, and supporting documentation to ensure files are up to date.
· Processes, posts, and reconciles payments received against outstanding balances.
· Verifies status of vendor payment checks including uncashed checks and processes voided checks, as required.
· Processes, sends, and files employee reimbursement forms.
· Assists with month-end closing and financial reporting tasks related to Accounts Payable/Receivable.
· Creates, updates, and maintains spreadsheets and database files as needed.
· Prepares deposits and ensure all cash receipts are recorded accurately.
· Assists with budget preparation as directed.
· Provides financial information and reports as needed for audits and financial reviews.
· Performs other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Operations.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field.
· Experience in Accounts Payable/Receivable, particularly in a school district, municipality, or other government agency.
· Knowledge of state procurement laws.
· Proficiency in the use of Google Suite and willingness to learn new software programs as needed.
· Experience using MUNIS or similar accounting software applications.
· High level of professionalism and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· High level of organizational and time management skills coupled with the ability to prioritize, multi-task, and handle diverse tasks.
· Ability to take initiative, exercise sound judgment, and make decisions within scope of authority.
