SHR Talent is partnering with a financial services organization in Birmingham, AL in its search for a Bank Reconciliation Team Lead.
The Bank Reconciliation Team Lead will oversee daily bank reconciliation operations while leading a small team of 3–4 accounting professionals in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment. This role will combine hands-on reconciliation responsibilities with leadership, workflow coordination, and process improvement initiatives.
The organization is seeking someone with strong reconciliation experience, leadership capabilities, and prior exposure to ERP/accounting systems such as Great Plains and Nolan. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working independently in a remote environment while managing team productivity and accuracy.
While the Bank Reconciliation Team Lead opportunity is fully remote, candidates must reside within the Birmingham, AL area for occasional meetings, collaboration, and training activities.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and support a team of 3–4 employees responsible for daily bank reconciliation activities
- Perform and review bank reconciliations across multiple accounts and entities
- Investigate and resolve reconciliation discrepancies and outstanding transactions
- Monitor reconciliation workflows to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with internal procedures
- Utilize Great Plains and Nolan systems to support reconciliation and reporting activities
- Assist with month-end close and related accounting support functions
- Develop and improve reconciliation procedures and operational efficiencies
- Collaborate with accounting leadership regarding reporting issues and process improvements
- Provide training, guidance, and support to team members
- Maintain strong attention to detail in a high-volume transactional environment
Qualifications:
- Prior bank reconciliation experience required
- Previous leadership or team lead experience preferred
- Experience with Great Plains and/or Nolan strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of accounting processes and reconciliation procedures
- Ability to identify discrepancies and troubleshoot transactional issues
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to manage deadlines and multiple priorities in a remote environment
- Process improvement mindset with strong attention to accuracy and detail
