Position Summary
The Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) works under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to provide high-quality speech and language therapy services to pediatric clients. The SLPA implements treatment plans, documents progress, collaborates with families and caregivers, and helps children achieve meaningful communication goals.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct speech-language therapy under the supervision of a licensed SLP.
- Implement individualized treatment plans developed by the supervising SLP.
- Conduct engaging, play-based therapy sessions.
- Document treatment notes accurately and submit them within required timeframes.
- Monitor client progress and communicate observations to the supervising SLP.
- Educate parents and caregivers on home practice strategies.
- Maintain professional communication with families, daycare staff, physicians, and team members.
- Participate in supervision meetings and ongoing training.
- Maintain client confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
- Travel between client locations as needed.
- Maintain licensure and complete required continuing education.
Qualifications
Required
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree from an accredited Speech-Language Pathology Assistant program
- Current South Carolina SLPA License
- Reliable transportation and valid driver's license
- Ability to pass a background check
Preferred
- Experience working with pediatric populations
- Experience with autism spectrum disorder
- Knowledge of AAC systems
- Early Intervention experience

Schedule

Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, kneel, and move during therapy sessions
- Lift up to 30 pounds when necessary
- Ability to engage in active, play-based treatment sessions with children
